LoveLula Beauty Box – September 2017

I’ve recently become part of the LoveLula Accredited Blogger Programme and as part of that I received the LoveLula Beauty Box*. I used to subscribe to this box and highly recommend it – it’s only £13.95 and often the value of the products are more than double (or even triple!) this amount. There’s usually a good variety of different brands and products too, and of course everything is cruelty free and natural. The other thing I love about this beauty box subscription is you can use a voucher code to get 20% off purchases from the brands featured in the box that month. This is great if you fall in love with one of the items as you can buy more using the discount.

Rather than just show you what’s in September’s box, I’ve given each item a test so that I can share a mini review with you. I’ve shared written reviews in this blog post and also created a video so if you prefer to watch video reviews please see or embedded below:

Walden Natural Perfumes Gift Set* (worth £30)
I was delighted to see this included in the box as it’s something I’ve been eyeing up! I don’t have many perfumes and struggle to find ones that are cruelty free. I’ve never tried natural ones before so have been keen to give these a go. The set includes miniature 5ml bottles of five scents – A Different Drummer, A Little Star-Dust, Castles in the Air, Two Eternities and The Solid Earth. The scents are varied so there’s bound to be one to appeal to everyone; my favourite at the moment is Castles in the Air. I like these, though they’re tricky to use (I prefer a rollerball top) and they don’t seem to last long on me. They smell great for an hour or two but don’t seem to stay any longer than that before they need a top up.

Esse Gel Cleanser* (worth £2.50 based on 100ml price)
I’ve never tried anything from Esse before so was intrigued by this. I tend to like gel cleansers as they nourish my skin, and this was the case for this one too. It has a very fresh invigorating scent (though with the peppermint and spearmint oils it is a bit like toothpaste!) – it’s good for morning and left the skin feeling lovely. The effect is great but I didn’t find the experience as enjoyable as my Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel which is my current morning cleanser.

Balm Balm Beauty Balm* (worth £16.50)
Wow. I hadn’t expected to love this so much, but it was love at first test. I’m so glad the full size was included in the box! The Balm Balm Beauty Balm is a multi-purpose balm that you can use as a cleanser, exfoliator, or moisturiser. It smells great, is full of loads of skin-friendly ingredients (100% organic), and is quite possibly the most lovely balm cleanser I’ve ever used (and I’ve used quite a few!). It melts quite quickly to an oil which feels lovely to massage into the skin, and it removes make up amazingly well, even mascara. It doesn’t sting my eyes at all, and when you remove it your skin is left feeling so smooth and nourished. I’ve also used it as a moisturiser overnight and it worked well for that too. All the heart-eyed emojis for this one! 😍

Kimberly Sayer Sample Set
I know some people don’t like to get small sample sachets, but I really do. They’re great for trying out products you might not otherwise try, with less waste if you don’t like them. Obviously you’re not usually able to notice longer term skin effects (although I noticed one person in the LoveLula Beauty Club did say one of these had lightened a dark patch she has in just four uses!). You can judge whether or not you like the scent, feel, and general experience of a product – all of which are important to me. I liked all the samples but the one that I enjoyed the most was the Restore Anti-Aging Cream*, which nourished my skin and left it feeling smooth but was mattified (no greasiness). The Light Cleansing Lotion* (for oily, combination, and blemish prone skin) and the Gentle Face Cleanser* (for dry, sensitive and normal skin) are both great cleansing lotions; I found them gentle enough to use on eyes (both removed make up effectively) whilst still nourishing skin. The one item which didn’t seem as suited to my skin was the Tangerine and Calendula Healing Light Night Cream* as I didn’t find it moisturising enough for me (though it isn’t for dry skin so that seems fair enough).

Joik White Chocolate Bath Truffle*
I haven’t used this yet, but have used them previously. I have to confess I’m not a huge fan of these as I prefer bath bombs or bubble bars which give my bath colour and bubbles. They do make your skin feel lovely though, so if you have dry skin these are good. Great value too – 6 for £10.

I loved this month’s beauty box! I really like trying out new skincare and enjoyed all the items in this box. It was great to try the perfumes too. Looking forward to next month’s box! 🙂
