Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream

Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream

I got some of the Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB cream* as part of my ‘face of natural make up’ for my LoveLula* video (I got it with credit I was rewarded but am reviewing it as if I purchased it myself). You can see the video at: or see it embedded in my earlier blog post (which links to each of the products).

I don’t wear make up often and prefer a lighter coverage base, so I thought this could be a good alternative for my current favourite CC cream (Sleek).

The Pacifica BB cream is marketed as more of a skincare item than a make up item, though it does claim to have a ‘bare skin tint’. There’s just the one shade for all skin tones as it aims to be shade-matching. It’s vegan and cruelty free and is formulated without silicone, petroleum, parabens, or phthalates. So, what’s it really like? Does it live up to the claims? The short version is that I like it as a moisturiser but not as a BB cream. Here’s what I think based on the different properties from the box.

All-in-one bare skin tint
It doesn’t tick this box for me personally. I’m disappointed with the lack of ‘tint’ as it doesn’t seem to give any coverage for me. It does have a colour to it (see below), but when you blend it this doesn’t translate to anything on the skin in terms of a tint or covering any blemishes or dark circles.

Illuminating primer
Yes, it definitely does illuminate the skin – in fact it has some small bits of glitter in which leave a subtle sheen to the skin (nothing too glittery though!). In terms of the illuminating effect it’s very similar to that of the Lush moisturiser I mentioned recently. It does feel lovely on the skin (and smells great too) and helps give a good base for further make up so I’d say it works well as a primer.

Perfecting finish
Sorry to say it doesn’t really do this for me. I think it might diminish the appearance of pores slightly, but I don’t feel it does anything for uneven skin tone as it claims to. As uneven skin tone is a bigger issue for me than pores, it’s not really the right sort of product in that sense for me.

Age-defying skincare
I can’t really comment on this as it’s not something I’ve had for long and I don’t use it regularly enough. It does feel very nice on the skin and I can imagine it would work well as a daily moisturiser. I notice from the ingredients that it has some that can be very good for skin (including hyaluronic acid that my skin always seems to love) so can imagine this claim could hold.

Shade-matching technology
It’s a no from me on this one too unfortunately. It’s not the wrong shade for me per se, so I guess technically it does match, but I think that’s more because it goes away to nothing so there isn’t a shade to be mismatched to. It mentions that it allows you to build the right amount of coverage, but I don’t find this to be the case. It’s very moisturising so you do only need a small amount but I find adding more just takes longer to soak in and doesn’t add coverage.

In summary

I feel like I’m giving this product a bad review as I don’t agree with many of the claims, however I do actually think this could be a great product for some people. If you’re looking for a lightweight, easy to apply moisturiser that adds a bit of glow and sits well underneath make up this could be perfect for you. I think it would be even better if it had SPF; I might consider using it as a moisturiser myself if so. For me though it doesn’t fit into the BB cream category so I’m still on the lookout for a good natural BB cream with light coverage.

Probably not for me at the moment as I don’t have a need for this sort of product in my routine. If it had SPF I’d be far more likely to repurchase as I’d use this as a daily moisturiser during summer when I like to have a bit of a glow to my skin. I have enjoyed wearing it as a primer recently but that’s an extra step I don’t usually include in my makeup routine.

    1. A great shame! I am using it fairly regularly at the moment, but not when I want coverage. Thanks for the PHB recommendation – I love their mineral foundation so will have to give the BB cream a go *adds to ever-growing LoveLula wishlist*
